WHAT KIND OF REFERRAL LETTER IS NEEDED FOR A NEW REGISTRATION AT GIC?
Written by any doctor registered in Hong Kong, or any clinical psychologists of the Hospital Authority, within 3 months.
(Even if one has documents from doctors outside Hong Kong, a referral letter written by a Hong Kong professional mentioned above is still required for registration)

WHO CAN BE REFERRED TO GIC?
Anyone 18 years old or above on the issue date of the referral letter.
Physical or psychiatric illnesses, if present, should not be a barrier to the referral. It is recommended for professionals to first make the referral, as much as possible, allowing assessment and follow up at GIC.

A professional may understand the following of their client, including: Address, pronouns, gender identity (One may reply with a more specific answer, or reply with not belonging to a certain gender identity), time and catalyst (If any) of the awareness of one's gender identity, gender euphoria, gender dysphoria, interests in gender-affirming care, etc.
CLINICS OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS OF HONG KONG
Students and staff of tertiary institutions may consider obtaining a referral letter at the clinic (If any) of their corresponding institution.
RAINBOW HEALTHCARE SCHEME
General practitioners, family doctors, etc., of this scheme, may be considered for getting a referral letter.
